Tenerife – Annie & Me 2016

Ok, it is now 2017 and I’ve just booked our 2018 holiday to Tenerife and realised that I didn’t do my blog for last year’s holiday! So, although it is a year late, I’m going to share the photos that I took during our stay at Paloma Beach in Los Cristianos and a little bit about what we did during the week. Next year I’ll be more diligent and do it when we get home.

Annie is one of my best friends and every two years we have a girls’ week away and we have been to Tenerife 3 times so far, one year at Golf Del Sur and the next two years at Paloma Beach.

Saturday 23 April 2016

We flew BA to Tenerife South, flight was delayed a bit but we got there by about 6.30pm and we were met at TFS by our friend Meryl and her friend Carol who gave us a welcome lift to Paloma Beach. We had a quick burger in the cafe near the entrance to Paloma Beach as we were feeling really tired after a long day. Our favourite restaurant from last time had gone so we decided to try a couple of new ones during the week

Sunday 24 April 2016

We both love a market and were delighted that there was now also a Sunday market so we hot footed it down and had a wander and tried to resist the bargains ;). Off we then went for our daily walk along the paseo as Las Vistas! On the way we stopped for a meal at Fado’s and had a really nice Menu del Dia. Poor Annie caught the sun a bit, but my Ultrasun kept me safe 🙂

Monday 25 Apri 2016

Today we met up with Meryl and Carol for lunch at Los Fuegos, before they arrive we stopped at Hammetts tea room for a quick cold drink. Lunch at Los Fuegos was a little disappointing with the beef being a bit tough but we did have a lovely chat and ended up at Siam Park Mall which was really nice. Lots of different shops and a lovely bar/restaurant on the top level.

We had dinner in a new restaurant to us Bahia Verde, a year on I can’t see if we had a good meal or not lol (I usually take lots of notes but didn’t this time).

Tuesday 26 April 2016

Market day again! Another walk down there and ok so I couldn’t resist it, bought 2 tops! My notes show we had a swim, think it was in the afternoon but after that walked down and sat and waved at family via the webcame (near the whale statue).  Funny looking back on notes like this some obviously made sense on the day but can’t understand what I wrote for today, something about La Tasca and Joe? Joe I think is the PR guy for one of the restaurants on the paseo and Meryl and her husband Jim know him so we did go and have a couple of meals there. He’s a very nice guy and took our photos against the sunset for us.

Wednesday 27 April 2016

So today we decided to have an easy day, with a swim and  lunch in the apartment but in the afternoon we had another walk down the paseo (do you see a pattern here? LOL!). Before we went onto the paseo we found a beautiful little cove with a beach bar just down from the apartment, we’d never seen it before when we were there but it looked really lovely and is on our list for a proper look next time we come over.

As we walked along the paseo we came across a bar selling frappuchino, think it was Caribina (?) and oh they were delish, so we had a couple, after all it would be rude not to and we were on holiday ;).

Walking back towards the apartment we stopped at Fados and had another really nice meal (we both love Canarian potatoes!). Got back to the apartment and made sure we had a good night’s sleep as the next day was our day for an adventure!

Thursday 28 April 2016

We picked up the coach outside the Arona Spring Gran which is near to Paloma Beach and made our way to the port to get the Ferry over to La Gomera. It started off a bit cold and misty but the views back towards Tenerife were stunning and then coming towards La Gomera we saw how beautiful the coastline looked.

Our coach took us around the Island and to the nature reserve, it was really beautiful. Only problem was one of the worst coffees I’ve ever had in my life (the other one was also in Tenerife at a bar near the apartment!). We stopped for a great Canarian lunch and were entertained by the whistling people of the area. Fascinating how they could whistle across the mountains and be understood. On the way back to the port we had a wander around the capital of the island, didn’t have a chance to have a good explore and I’m sure there’s more to it than we actually saw. A lovely cruise back to Tenerife and then back to the apartment and dinner at one of the new restaurants, called Galle Nero, beautiful food and great service.

Friday 29 April 2016

We had our usual walk along the paseo and up into the town a bit, more frappuchinos and I bought a couple of pairs of trousers from a shop next to the restaurant where Joe works.  Another swim and lunch at the apartment before going out again to eat.

Saturday 30 April 2016

Went out for breakfast today, and then went back to the apartment for a final swim and to finish pack and wait till it was time for Meryl and Jim to pick us up to go to the airport.  Looking forward to coming back in 2018.
